Western Conference Championshiop: Game 5
The Chicago Blackhawks were able to overcome a game-tying goal with 10 seconds left in regulation by LA's Mike Richards, to win the series, 4 -1 and advance to the Stanley Cup Finals.
The game winning goal came for Patrick Kane, who by the way, scored a Hat Trick tonight. So take that all you sportswriters and fans who have abused the kid during these playoffs. Now that he is hot, how many of you will jump on his bandwagon and shower him with platitudes about how great he is. You are all a bunch of phonies and the kid nor the Blackhawks need you.
Now back to the game. The Blackhawks got off to a 2-0 lead, before the Kings bounced back with a shorthanded and a power play goal, to tie the game after 2 periods at 2-2. Kane scored his second goal of the game with under 6 minutes left in regulation, but Mike Richards tipped in a shot to tie it at 3-3 with 10 seconds left in regulation.
The 1st OT was exciting but scoreless and 11:40 of the 2nd OT, Patrick Kane took a PERFECT pass from Jonathan Toews that was right on his tape and flung it past the glove side of Jonathan Quick for the game and series winning goal.
For Patrick Kane, it was the first Hat Trick in a Conference Championship Clincher, since The Great One, Wayne Gretzky did it for the Los Angeles Kings in 1993 over the St. Louis Blues.
This will be the first time that there will be an Original Six Match-up in the Stanley Cup Finals since 1979, when the Montreal Canadians faced off with the New York Rangers.
Game 1 and 2 of the Finals will be on Wednesday June 12th and Saturday June 15th in Chicago at the "Madhouse on Madison".
