2013 Western Conference Championship: Game 1

The Chicago Blackhawks opened the Western Conference Championship with the defending Stanley Cup Champs, the Los Angeles Kings, and the game was everything it was built up to be.

The Kings got on the board first, as a bouncing puck and a mis-play by Corey Crawford, left the puck right near the stick of Justin Williams, who deftly swatted it in to the net. But that would be the ONLY mistake made by Corey in this game.

The Blackhawks responded with a nifty set-up by Johnny Oduya, who cam down the left side against Goalie Jonathan Quick, but shot for the far side of the net.  The shot was blocked by Quick's left pad, but the rebound came straight to Patrick Sharp, who gathered in the puck and shot it into the suddenly wide open net.  And before you knew it, the score was tied at 1-1.

A few minutes later, a slap shot from Duncan Keith was re-directed past Quick by the super quick hands of Marian Hossa.  This goal proved to be the game-winner, as the Blackhawks kept the Kings off the board the rest of the way.
